We are looking for a personable, organised, confident individual to distribute our new quarterly magazine for Canterbury, the Canterbury Courier.

We are looking for a personable, organised, confident individual to distribute our quarterly magazine for Canterbury, the Canterbury Courier.

This freelance, part time role will commence with the Winter issue, out 20 November 2025. Key dates in which the distributor will need to be available for work are the weekends of 20 November 2025, 12 Feb 2026, 07 May 2026, 13 August 2026 and 19 November 2026.

The fee is based on the number of copies distributed. For 7,000 copies the fee is £350. For every additional 1,000 copies the fee increases by £50. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To collect copies of the new issue from our depot in Pysons Road, Thanet on the day of delivery for delivery to the launch venue and then distribution across that weekend in the community. 
  • To distribute the appropriate number of copies to stockists working from the database and to be available for top-ups over the following weeks as/when required.
  • To update and communicate information, distribution numbers and dates on the database after every distribution round.
  • To communicate regularly with the Distribution Manager and team adding to the aforementioned Brightside distribution Whatsapp groups as you distribute. 
  • To take and upload photographs of the magazine in situ at our stockists and share these with the Brightside team/Whatsapp group for updates on our social media.
  • To liaise with stockists to provide the best POS for the magazines. 
  • To find and approach new stockists/advertisers to increase the reach of the magazine (commission based). 
  • To attend a six monthly distribution breakfast meeting to feedback and contribute knowledge.

Essential attributes:

  • Lives in Canterbury and knows the city and the surrounding areas well. 
  • Available for all proposed publication dates (see above) plus top-ups as and when required
  • A reliable vehicle and clean driving license 
  • Access to the Internet and the ability to work on spreadsheets in Google Drive
  • An excellent communicator
  • Physically fit and able to carry copies of the magazine around town
  • Comfortable dealing with a range of business owners
  • Driven with a positive attitude and committed approach towards visiting stockists
  • Happy to approach potential stockists
  • Able to prioritise and manage their time effectively and work independently
